TWOWS awarded Elsevier Foundation grant

The new funding will enable the expansion of the TWOWS Prizes scheme

The Elsevier Foundation www.elsevierfoundation.org, through its 'Women Scientists in the Developing World Awards' is supporting the expansion of the recently launched TWOWS Prizes. Thanks to Elsevier, TWOWS will now make US$ 5,000 awards to three young women scientists (one each in the biological sciences, chemical sciences, and the physical and mathematical sciences) in each of the four regions of the developing world (Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, and the Middle East) to a total of twelve awards. The expanded TWOWS Prizes scheme will ensure that talented young women scientists in developing countries are recognized for excellence within their own disciplines - and help to promote the overall participation and recognition of women scientists in the developing world.

New deadline for nominations: 28 February 2010. (Self-nominations are not eligible).
